Life Support Skills Training

Life Support Skills Training

Our life support courses are accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC).

Course Objectives

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an advanced, instructor-led course that builds upon the tenets of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). It serves to highlight the importance of key competencies such as team dynamics and communication, common arrhythmia management and cardiac arrest algorithmic care, as well as immediate post cardiac arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology.

ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies.

Upon successful completion, participants will be certified as ACLS providers. The certification will be valid for two years.

Course Outline

  • Demonstrate proficiency in providing BCLS care, including prioritizing chest compressions.
  • Manage cardiac arrest until return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), termination of resuscitation, or transfer of care.
  • Identify and treat ischemic chest pain and expedite the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes and related dysrhythmias.
  • Recognise other life-threatening clinical situations, such as stroke, and provide effective initial care and transfer to reduce disability and death.
  • Demonstrate effective communication as a member, or leader, of a resuscitation team and recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performances.

Training Methodology

  • Instructor-led practical training

Target Audience

  • Doctors

Duration

  • 16 hours

Upon successful completion, participants will be certified as BCLS+AED providers. The certification will be valid for two years.

Course Objectives

The concept of chain survival will be covered in the programme, such as:

  • Coronary Artery Disease
  • Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Adult Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO)
  • Infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Infant Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO)
  • Defibrillation Protocol

Course Outline

  • Recognition of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)
  • Activation of the emergency response system
  • Perform early Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Perform rapid defibrillation with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Training Methodology
