Biosketch

Adj Associate Prof Ng Chew Lip, a Senior Consultant and Clinical Director of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, graduated from the National University of Singapore and was conferred Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Master of Medicine (ORL). He was also elected Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore, and Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds the academic appointment of Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

Adj A/Prof Ng completed two high-volume, hands-on clinical fellowships in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (FPRS) in London, UK and in the University of Toronto, Canada, during which he honed his surgical skills under the tutelage of internationally-renowned surgeons. In Toronto, he received the Kris Conrad Award in Facial Plastic Surgery for being the top FPRS fellow. He is Board Certified by the International Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery,  also and received the Claus D. Walter Award for achieving the highest score in the European and International FPRS Fellowship Examination. 

Adj A/Prof Ng directs the Facial Plastic Surgery Clinic and practises in Functional and Aesthetic Rhinoplasty, Facial Palsy, Facial Rejuvenation, Craniofacial Trauma, Keloids and Scar Management. Adj A/Prof Ng is a pioneer in Asian Preservation Rhinoplasty, a novel surgical philosophy that seeks to preserve critical nasal structures in nose reshaping, being first to perform this surgery in Singapore in 2020. His other clinical interests include holistic management of Allergic Rhinitis and Sinusitis.

Adj A/Prof Ng speaks regularly at numerous regional and international conferences on Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery and FPRS as invited faculty. As a committed educator serving as the Undergraduate Director of the Department and former Associate Program Director of the NUHS ENT Residency Programme, he is very involved in teaching medical students and residents. He also directs a clinical Observership Programme in FPRS to train international surgeons.

Adj A/Prof Ng has authored medical textbook chapters and serves on the Editorial Boards of several medical journals including the Singapore Medical Journal. His publications include Tier 1 peer-reviewed medical journals such as Allergy, Thorax, JAMA Otolaryngology, Laryngoscope & Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He was a Consultant Author in the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy International Consensus Statement on Allergic Rhinitis, and has received several grants for his research, which focuses on novel techniques in Asian Rhinoplasty, enhancing outcomes of medical treatment of ENT conditions and optimising the efficiency of surgical systems. Through his research, he has developed several novel surgical techniques and instruments in Rhinoplasty and Sinus Surgery.
