Biosketch

​Clinical A/Prof Gerald Chua is Chairman, Medical Board in JurongHealth Campus. He is a Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine. He practises in both the Department of Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1999 and was awarded the European Diploma in Intensive Care in 2004. He was elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (2009) and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh University Medical Centre St. Radboud, Nijmegen, Netherlands.

Clinical A/Prof Chua's clinical interest is in the integration of care for COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients, spanning primary care, specialty care, intensive care and palliative care. His educational interests are in multi-professional education in acute care, crisis resource management, mechanical ventilation and medical professionalism.

As JurongHealth Campus' Vice Chairman, Medical Board (Clinical Education), Clinical A/Prof Chua contributes actively to clinical education both within and out of JurongHealth Campus. He has delivered lectures and workshops for physicians and nurses in numerous hospitals in Asia, and conducts the MRCP PACES examination in Singapore. In his role as an Associate Designated Institutional Official, he drives the development of National University Health System residency programmes within JurongHealth Campus. For his contributions to undergraduate medical education, he has been appointed Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. At the national level, he chairs the Intensive Care Medicine Sub-specialty Training Committee and is a member of the Internal Medicine Residency Advisory Committee. At the international level, he represents the Divison of Graduate Medical Studies, National University of Singapore on the Part 1 Examining Board of the Federation of the Royal College of Physicians (UK).

Clinical A/Prof Chua also serves on the Singapore Medical Association's Centre for Medical Ethics and Professionalism as Deputy Director, and contributes to the Singapore Armed Forces as a member of its Respiratory Medicine Specialist Advisory Board.
