The family of the late Ng Teng Fong

Donation Amount: $125,000,000

The late Ng Teng Fong (1928 - 2010) was a philanthropist and respected pioneer of Singapore. Born in Putien in the Fujian province of China, he was the eldest of 11 children. He migrated to Singapore with his family when he was six. As a stoic young man with an entrepreneurial spirit, Mr Ng struck out on his own and established Far East Organization in 1960, as well as its Hong Kong-based sister company, Sino Group, in 1970. Today, Far East Organization is Singapore's largest private property developer, which together with the Sino Group, is one of Asia's largest real estate groups.

Mr Ng's entreprenuerial energy and vision built a solid foundation for Far East Organization to grow into a progressive establishment that embraces innovation and creativity. In addition to building an award-winning, quality real estate, Far East Organization gives back to the community through its corporate sponsorship programmes. It actively supports community projects which range from charity and education programmes to activities that promote the appreciation of culture and the arts among Singaporeans. It also endorses worthy causes and fundraising events for local charities such as Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS), Touch Home Care, HCA Hospice Care, Boys' Town and Children's Aid Society, to name a few.

In September 2011, Far East Organization, through a group of companies owned by the family of the late Mr Ng Teng Fong, pledged the sum of $125,000,000 over five years to JurongHealth Fund for the purpose of supporting JurongHealth Campus in the promotion and development of health-related services to benefit the Singapore community.
