The Psychiatry department at NTFGH is modest but very dedicated to teaching. We place an emphasis on getting to know our residents. Residents participate in a wide range of educational and clinical activities, including didactic group learning, outpatient clinics, and inpatient consult-liaison. We provide valuable clinical exposure to a caseload typical of a general hospital psychiatry setting.
We apply principles of adult learning theory for effective teaching. We mentor and help residents develop self-direction, appreciate clinical experience, sharpen clinical reasoning, learn from mistakes, and apply knowledge to real-life situations. We support their journey towards becoming doctors who practise responsibly, reliably, and with humility.
