Biosketch

Dr Jamie Ng Yuxin, heads the Department of Ophthalmology at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) since 1 October 2023. She obtained her medical degree from the National University of Singapore. She completed her specialist ophthalmology training in Singapore and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She also holds a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology), Singapore.

Her journey with NTFGH started in January 2015 as an Associate Consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology. She was promoted to Consultant in January 2017 and Senior Consultant in January 2022. Her expertise was further honed through the completion of a cornea and refractive surgery fellowship in 2019.

Dr Ng was appointed Clinical Director, Ophthalmology in January 2022, supporting the HOD in steering the operational aspects of the department. Within NTFGH, her other significant contributions include her membership in the Medical Device and Procedure Committee and her role as the clinical lead in the Medical Equipment Replacement Steering Committee with a focus on defibrillators and patient monitors.

She has been leading Jurong Medical Centre (JMC) as Deputy Clinical Director since February 2021, supporting the Clinical Director in fostering the growth of appropriate clinical services and overseeing the delivery of care to the community. As the Head, Functional Restoration at JMC, Dr Ng helped to develop and implement the clinical strategy of JMC. She is also the Lead for "Vision Health" where she worked with the rest of the Ophthalmology Clinical Service colleagues to help develop care of eye patients in the community in the form of the teleophthalmology and optometrist lead clinics in JMC.

At the national level, she has also been serving as the clinical lead for the Ministry of Manpower Clusters Anchor Operators for Migrant Workers since 2022, and committee member of the National Intraocular Lens RFP Workgroup since 2019.

Apart from her interests in the cornea and refractive subspecialty realm, Dr Ng is devoted to enhancing healthcare delivery and dedicated to community outreach initiatives such as public eye screenings and forums. Dr Ng's expertise also lies in femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery and general comprehensive ophthalmology.
