Arts & Health Programmes
Returning for its ninth edition, the annual Arts&Health Festival—this year themed "Play Well!"—explores the intersections of creativity, health, and wellbeing through the act of play.
The week-long Festival opened with a contemporary dance performance by Tasek Dance Lab, and welcomed community partners such as the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Singapore (NAFA, UAS), NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Taman Jurong), Princess Elizabeth Primary School, and Tasek Academy and Social Services. These partners have worked with us over the past year to co-create a healing environment and experiences for our patients, families, visitors, and staff.
This year’s programme featured five new showcases, displaying around 100 artworks—including innovative cardboard games, knotted tapestries, felt pieces, and hand-painted murals—co-created with patients and community partners. Complementing the exhibitions were recess-themed creative workshops for patients and the public, as well as lively performances by local musicians and our talented staff.
A key milestone of the Festival was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NAFA, UAS—our first collaboration with an arts institution. This partnership lays the foundation for integrating the arts into healing spaces, enlivening our campus and enhancing patient care and wellbeing.
Contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the Festival, we brought a burst of colour and creativity to the campus by inviting staff and the community to participate in a variety of hands-on activities throughout the week—from silk-screening tote bags and building dioramas to K-pop dance sessions.
Patients in the wards were also able to soak in the festivities, enjoying performances of joyful, familiar tunes by local musicians. They even got to groove to the latest K-pop hits, learning hip-hop drills and choreographed moves from our dance artists.
