Adj Asst Prof Daniel Kwek began his journey with JurongHealth Campus in 2011. He is the Director of Medical Manpower and practises as a Senior Consultant in Department of Psychiatry in Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He is part of the multi-disciplinary team in the Assessment & Shared Care Team (ASCAT) programme aimed at enhancing mental health care in the community.
Dr Kwek obtained his medical degree and postgraduate medical degree from the National University of Singapore. He has worked in the psychiatric departments of various hospitals and tertiary institutions, including the Institute of Mental Health, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Alexandra Hospital. He was formerly the Head of Psychological Medicine in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
With an interest in adult psychiatry, Dr Kwek has been exposed to old-age psychiatry, psychological therapies, liaison psychiatry, palliative medicine, psychological trauma management, neuro-linguistic programming and hypnotherapy during his training. He is particularly interested in the area of employee stress and burnout.
At the national level, Dr Kwek co-chairs the Psychiatric Intermediate & Long-term Care Working Committee under the Ministry of Health. He also delivers lectures and workshops to general practitioners, community partners and the public. He has a few publications to his name, including research papers and articles in medical journals. He has also participated in a number of relief missions.
In addition, Dr Kwek contributes to undergraduate medical education and has been appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Besides being a faculty member of the National Healthcare Group Residency (Psychiatry Programme), he is also a faculty member of the continuing medical education programme under the Singapore Medical Association.
