Adj A/Prof Oh Han Boon is a Breast and Endocrine Surgeon at the National University Health System and is the Head of Department, General Surgery & Head of Division, Breast & Endocrine Surgery at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and joined the National University Health System as the inaugural resident at the NUHS General Surgery Residency Program and graduated as the Chief Resident. He subsequently obtained his General Surgery accreditation from the Specialists Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health Singapore after obtaining his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in General Surgery. Adj A/Prof Oh performs the full range of breast & endocrine surgical procedures including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and breast cancer surgeries. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award and subsequently completed a year-long fellowship at the prestigious University College London Hospitals (UCLH) under the NHS Foundation Trust in London, United Kingdom, gaining exposure in both adult and paediatric endocrine surgery, as well as breast surgery. He also performs minimally invasive procedures with interests in endoscopy, hernia and gallbladder surgery and contributes to the Acute Care Surgery roster.
Adj A/Prof Oh currently serves as the Deputy Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Associate Chairman, Medical Board for Care Transformation at NTFGH. He has special interests in Data Analytics, Surgical Informatics, Artificial Intelligence and Medical Technology.
Passionate in both undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Education, Adj A/Prof Oh holds the positions of Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, Senior Lecturer at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU, and is a Member of the JurongHealth Simulation & Clinical Education Centre Surgical Skills Subcommittee at NTFGH. He is concurrently the undergraduate lead in Surgery and was awarded the NUHS Teaching Excellence Award in 2019. A Physician Faculty for the postgraduate surgical residency programs, Adj A/Prof Oh is also an active Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor.
Adj A/Prof Oh's research interests are in surgery, medical informatics and medical education. He has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals and in book chapters. He has presented at numerous local and overseas conferences.
