Adjunct Assistant Professor Adeline Yong is a Consultant Dermatologist and UK fellowship-trained Mohs Micrographic Surgeon who holds dual clinical appointments in the Division of Dermatology at both National University Hospital (NUH) and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), Singapore.
Adj Asst Prof Yong received her Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore under the prestigious OCBC Undergraduate Scholarship. She subsequently completed residency training in Internal Medicine under the National University Health System (NUHS) Residency Programme and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2016. She later pursued specialist training in Dermatology under the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Dermatology Residency Programme and was awarded the Certificate of Specialist Accreditation in Dermatology by the Ministry of Health Singapore.
In 2024, Adj Asst Prof Yong was granted the Ministry of Health (MOH) Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Award to undertake a year-long fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and advanced dermatologic surgery at the prestigious Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, Scotland. During this fellowship, she received rigorous training in Mohs micrographic surgery, complex cutaneous reconstruction, advanced dermatologic surgery, and laser procedures.
She also completed a visiting observership in onychology and nail surgery with internationally renowned expert Professor Bertrand Richert at the CHU-Saint Pierre Hospital in Brussels, Belgium in July 2025 under the same HMDP award.
In 2026, Adj Asst Prof Yong further obtained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (Ireland), placing her among the few doctors in Singapore to hold dual memberships with both the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) and the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP).
Clinical Expertise
Adj Asst Prof Yong has a strong clinical interest in dermatologic surgery and skin cancer. Her practice encompasses Mohs micrographic surgery, skin cancer management, complex cutaneous reconstruction, and advanced dermatologic surgical procedures. She also has a subspecialty interest in nail and hair diseases, manages a wide range of medical dermatological conditions including chronic inflammatory skin conditions and performs a variety of laser procedures.
As the Tumour Programme Lead (Skin) at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), Adj Asst Prof Yong is the chairperson of the monthly multidisciplinary skin tumour board meetings within the NUHS cluster, facilitating collaborative decision-making across dermatology, surgical and medical oncology, pathology, radiology, plastic surgery and other specialties to optimise patient outcomes.
Education and Leadership
Adj Asst Prof Yong is passionate about medical education and training the next generation of doctors. She serves as Adjunct Clinician Educator and Dermatology Undergraduate Director at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, where she oversees dermatology teaching and curriculum delivery for undergraduate medical students. She previously served as Core Faculty for the NUHS Internal Medicine Residency Programme, contributing to the teaching and mentorship of junior residents.
Within NUHS, she is also engaged in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives. Her leadership roles include serving as Patient Safety Officer for the Division of Dermatology (2022–2023). She also contributes to institutional committees including the NUH Laser and Optical Radiation Sub-Committee as well as the Taskforce for Quality HIDS, supporting initiatives that enhance patient safety and clinical standards.
Research and Publications
Adj Asst Prof Yong has a strong interest in academic dermatology and clinical research. She graduated from the NUHS Research Residency Programme, where she was awarded the Research Residency Programme (RRP) Research Award (Merit) in 2020.
Adj Asst Prof Yong has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals such as JAAD Reviews, Radiology, International Journal of Dermatology, Photodermatology, Photoimmunology & Photomedicine, Singapore Medical Journal, and JAAD Case Reports. Her work has also been presented at regional and international scientific conferences.
