Dr Rahul Rathakrishnan is a Senior Consultant with the Division of Neurology at the National University Hospital, and Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Southampton and completed his postgraduate medical education in the United Kingdom. Following specialist accreditation in neurology from the Ministry of Health, Singapore, he was presented the Overseas Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) award to undertake an epilepsy fellowship at the Montreal Neurological Institute, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, Edinburgh) and the Academy of Medicine of Singapore (FAMS). He has ASEPA-ASNA EEG board certification and is the Secretary of the Singapore Epilepsy Society.
His clinical interests lie in the early diagnosis and management of patients with epilepsy and related disorders. This includes the early evaluation of patients with new onset seizures and early flexible review of patients with epilepsy.
Dr Rathakrishnan has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and has written several book chapters. His research interests relate to the clinical management of seizure disorders especially in the critical care setting. He is also interested in the advanced application of EEG techniques and has previously received grant support from the National Health Innovation Centre Singapore and the Centre for Healthcare Innovation in this regard.
