Dr Kong Chee Hoe is an Associate Consultant with the Division of Adult Reconstruction & Joint Replacement Surgery at the National University Hospital (NUH), and the Division of Hip and Knee Surgery at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH). A clinician‑scientist, his practice focuses on the management of hip and knee osteoarthritis, periprosthetic fractures, and prosthetic joint infections. He has a specialised interest in primary, complex, and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, and incorporates robotic and minimally invasive techniques to enhance surgical precision, accelerate recovery, and optimise patient outcomes.

Dr Kong graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2014. He subsequently completed the National University Health System (NUHS) Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programme, attaining the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEd) and the Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery (MMed Ortho), culminating in his appointment as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd).

Driven by a passion to advance patient care through scientific discovery, Dr Kong also pursued and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), supported by the prestigious President’s Graduate Fellowship (PGF). His doctoral research focused on additive manufacturing, biomaterials, and nanoparticle technology to functionalise orthopaedic implants for enhanced bone regeneration and integration, and his work has been published in multiple peer‑reviewed international journals.

His strong research foundation led to the award of the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Clinician Scientist Individual Research Grant – New Investigator Grant (CS‑IRG‑NIG), which supports his work on mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) exosome‑based regenerative orthopaedics, with translational potential to improve outcomes in prosthetic joint infection management and adult reconstruction surgery.

Beyond clinical and research roles, Dr Kong is a graduate of the NUHS Residency Leadership Development Programme (RLDP), which nurtures emerging clinician leaders in healthcare systems and strategic management. He is also actively involved in medical education as a Clinical Tutor for both undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, committed to mentoring the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons and translating scientific innovations into clinical practice.

With a career built on the pillars of clinical excellence, biomaterials innovation, and regenerative medicine, Dr Kong is dedicated to advancing patient‑specific, technology‑driven joint reconstruction solutions, enhancing functional recovery, infection control, and long‑term implant success in hip and knee arthroplasty for patients in Singapore and the region.
