General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery provides comprehensive surgical services, including breast surgery, thyroid and endocrine surgery, bariatric and metabolic surgery for obesity, colorectal surgery, upper gastro-intestinal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, surgical oncology and surgical endoscopy for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, as well as vascular and endovascular surgery.

We are a major provider of surgical care for both inpatient and outpatient services with full 24-hour on-site coverage for acute surgical conditions with our Consultant-led Emergency Surgical Unit. There is an increasing number of procedures which we now treat as day surgery, without the need of an overnight hospital stay, thus ensuring a more comfortable and faster recovery. Our dedicated trauma team also provides Trauma service that provides life-saving care.

All these services are delivered by our surgical teams led by highly qualified consultants with a focus on minimally invasive surgical techniques (keyhole surgery). A multi-disciplinary approach has been developed in all the various areas, drawing together highly dedicated and specialised teams, such as Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology and Gynaecology. This ensures delivery of only the best care for all our patients.
