Services
Foot & Ankle Surgery

We treat an extensive range of foot and ankle problems and offer specialist operative and non-operative treatment. Our surgeons work in close collaboration with podiatrists, orthotists, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to provide patients with holistic care. Keyhole surgery (arthroscopy, tendinoscopy and minimally invasive surgery) is used, whenever possible, to limit complications and speed up recovery. We keep up to date with the latest research and practise an evidence-based approach to diagnosis and treatment.

We provide the following conservative and operative treatment of foot and ankle disorders including:

  • Sports injuries and arthroscopy of foot and ankle
  • Degenerative foot and ankle disorders
  • Diabetic foot
  • Neurological disorders and tendon transfers
  • Foot and ankle trauma
Hip & Knee Surgery

This service provides assessment and treatment of osteoarthritis and other types of arthritis of the hip and knee using the latest in implant technology, computer-navigated surgery and advanced surgical techniques. We also manage a large range of sports related hip and knee injuries working closely with the sports medicine service. When surgery is required as part of the overall management of an exercise/sports-related injury, our sports orthopaedic surgeons offer a comprehensive range of surgical options.

We provide the following services:

  • Unicompartmental knee replacement
  • Primary total knee replacement
  • Revision and complex total knee replacements
  • Primary total hip replacement
  • Revision and complex total hip replacements
  • Osteotomies and realignment procedures for knee and hip joint disorders
  • Conservative and operative treatment of sports related knee injuries
  • Arthroscopic and open surgical management of degenerative problems of the knee
  • Simple and multiple ligament reconstruction of the knee and patella
  • Management of meniscal injuries including debridement, repair and transplantation
  • Surgery for bone, joint and cartilage injuries including cartilage repair techniques
Musculoskeletal Oncology (Tumours)

This service provides basic assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal tumours.

Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery (Fractures)

This service provides treatment for patients who have sustained a wide variety of injuries as a result of accidents. The care of these patients is carried out by a dedicated team who provides 24-hour consultant-delivered service. People who suffer serious injuries require specialist care of the highest quality to ensure the best chances of survival and recovery.

We utilise advanced techniques, including minimally invasive surgery, navigation-assisted surgery, 3D printing and arthroscopically assisted fracture fixation. Our multi-disciplinary team comprises surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists sharing a common goal of facilitating a patient's recovery from serious injury. Our Anaesthesiology team is experienced in trauma anaesthesia and pain control, to help ensure a comfortable recovery from surgery. We also work closely with our reconstructive surgical teams to manage soft tissue defects after serious injuries such as open fractures.

In addition, we offer holistic care for elderly patients with osteoporotic (soft bone) fragility fractures, including combined care with the geriatrician, endocrinologist and family physicians.

  • Fracture-related infections
  • Pelvic and acetabular fractures
  • Limb lengthening (for limb length discrepancy)
  • Bone transport (for bone defects)

Shoulder & Elbow Surgery

We provide diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of degenerative, sports and traumatic injuries of the shoulder and elbow, including the following:

  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Shoulder instability (shoulder dislocations)
  • Arthritis of the shoulder and elbow
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow
  • Elbow instability (elbow dislocations)
  • Fractures around the shoulder and elbow

Our treatment modalities include:

  • Non-operative treatment including shockwave therapy and targeted injections
  • Arthroscopic or keyhole surgery for rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilisation
  • Shoulder and elbow joint replacement (Arthroplasty)
  • Fracture fixation and ligament repair of the shoulder and elbow
Spine Surgery

Our spine division combines the expertise from both orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery to deliver a comprehensive care to our patients with spinal conditions. We offer a wide range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of each individuals with a special focus on endoscopic spinal surgery and motion preservation surgery.

  • Diagnosis and evaluation - We work closely with our radiology colleagues to offer advanced imaging modalities including MRI scans and dynamic radiographs of the spine.
  • Non-surgical treatment - We believe in exploring conservative treatment options prior to surgery. As such, we have a dedicated team of physiotherapists, pain management specialists and rehabilitation experts who offer physical therapy, analgesia, traction, manipulations, spinal injections and more.
  • Minimally invasive spine surgery - We understand the importance of minimizing patient discomfort and facilitating faster recovery times. Our hospital offers a vast range of minimally invasive spine surgery options including tubular and endoscopic techniques which involve smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, and shorter hospital stays.
  • Spinal fusion surgery - For cases with instability and not amenable to decompression alone, we have a long experience in our division for advanced techniques in fusion including minimally invasive fusion procedures and use of advanced 3D navigation for spinal instrumentation and lateral access surgery.
  • Post-operative care and rehabilitation - At NTFGH, our commitment to patient care extends even after surgery. Our patient-centric approach ensures across-the-board care for the patient throughout their entire healthcare journey. We work closely with our multidisciplinary team as well as our adjacent Jurong Community Hospital to ensure delivery of personalized care and rehab to each patient especially for those that require an extended period of inpatient rehabilitation.
Sports Medicine

Our multi-disciplinary team of sports-trained healthcare professionals caring holistically for all persons involved in exercise and sports. The team includes sports medicine doctors, sports orthopaedic surgeons, sports physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, sports podiatrists and sports dietitians.

Using a holistic approach with evidence-based best practices and treatments, the team promotes healthy, active exercising/sporting lifestyles while optimising recovery from injury/illness and return to exercise/sports in a safe, realistic and timely manner.

Our sports medicine doctors and sports orthopaedic surgeons are sports-trained professionals, who are skilled in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention strategies of exercise/sports-related injuries/illnesses, including injuries to joints, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, muscles and bones. Using the latest scientific evidence-based best practices and treatments, including ESWT and PRP therapy, we help our patients optimise recovery from injury in a supportive, understanding and healing environment.

We provide the following services:

  • Sports medicine consultations including the football medicine clinic for all levels of football
  • Pre-participation exercise/sports screening including the FIFA pre-competition medical assessment (PCMA)
  • Bedside diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging and ultrasound-guided injection procedures
  • Ultrasound-guided focused and radial Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) for degeneration of the plantar fascia, Achilles tendon and patellar tendon
  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for tennis elbow
