2026/02/13

The Division of Colorectal Surgery at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) provides comprehensive elective and emergency colorectal surgical services. We manage a broad spectrum of malignant and benign colorectal conditions, such as colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease and anorectal disease.

Our experienced specialists provide comprehensive, personalised care through multidisciplinary, patient-centred approaches. Central to our practice is close collaboration between medical specialties and allied health professionals, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. This collaborative framework operates within established medical standards, underpinned by our unwavering commitment to quality care and patient safety.

Services
Access to Specialist Care and Referrals

Our specialists see patients at the Specialist Outpatient Clinics (SOCs) at both Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre. To ensure accessibility, we offer both subsidised and private care options in accordance with Ministry of Health (MOH) policies

Subsidised Patients

Subsidised care requires a referral from polyclinics, general practitioners, or other specialists.

Non-subsidised Patients

Private patients can access specialist care directly without a referral. To book an appointment with one of our specialists, contact us at +65 6908 2222 or visit our Contact Us page. Alternatively, if you have a preferred specialist, you may also click here to book an appointment through the clinic.

Financial counselling services are available after consultation to help navigate insurance coverage and healthcare subsidies. Our surgeons are credentialed with most major insurance panels, providing greater flexibility in care options. For more information about eligibility or to discuss your specific needs, contact us at +65 6908 2222.

Information for General Practitioners

We work closely with general practitioners (GPs) to support timely referral, shared care, and continuity of care for patients with colorectal conditions. As a division, we contribute to GP education through continuing medical education (CME) activities, clinical updates, and collaborative initiatives to support evidence-based management and appropriate specialist referral.

Education, Training and Research

As part of an academic health system, we are committed to advancing colorectal surgical care through education, research and continuous quality improvement. Our specialists are actively involved in undergraduate medical education, post graduate training, specialist training, clinical and health services research. We also offer clinical fellowship opportunities.

The Department of General Surgery at NTFGH has participated in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) since 2021. This is a globally recognised, data-driven programme focused on measuring and improving surgical outcomes. Participation in ACS NSQIP supports continuous quality improvement through risk-adjusted benchmarking, outcomes monitoring, and evidence-based initiatives to enhance patient safety and quality of care.

These efforts support population health and align with national preventive health strategies and priorities.
