Preventive Medicine

Preventive Medicine

Preventive Medicine focuses on promoting health, preventing disease, and managing the health of communities and defined populations.

Preventive medicine specialists are licensed medical doctors with core competencies in epidemiology, bio-statistics, planning and evaluation of health services, management of health care organisations, research into causes of ill health and injury in population groups, and the practice of prevention in clinical medicine. These specialists combine population-based public health skills with their knowledge of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention-oriented clinical practice in a wide variety of settings.

Preventive Medicine residents who do their practicum in JurongHealth Campus can expect to acquire specialised skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  1. Disease control and epidemiology
  2. Health policy and administration
  3. Health services research
