Keyhole surgery (arthroscopy, tendinoscopy and minimally invasive surgery) is used, whenever possible, to limit complications and speed up recovery. Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery
This service provides assessment and treatment of traumatic injuries, infections and degenerative conditions of the hand.
We provide the following comprehensive and operative treatment of hand disorders as well as surgical reconstruction of extremity soft tissue defects including:
- Treatment and reconstruction of severe hand infections as well as upper and lower extremity infections
- Operative and non-operative treatment of hand and wrist fractures

Hip & Knee Surgery
This service provides assessment and treatment of osteoarthritis and other types of arthritis of the hip and knee using the latest in implant technology, computer-navigated surgery and advanced surgical techniques. We also manage a large range of sports related hip and knee injuries working closely with the sports medicine service. When surgery is required as part of the overall management of an exercise/sports-related injury, our sports orthopaedic surgeons offer a comprehensive range of surgical options.

This service provides basic assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal tumours.
Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery (Fractures)
This service provides treatment for patients who have sustained a wide variety of injuries as a result of accidents. The care of these patients is carried out by a dedicated team who provides 24-hour consultant-delivered service. People who suffer serious injuries require specialist care of the highest quality to ensure the best chances of survival and recovery.
We offer quality trauma care, including minimally invasive surgery and arthroscopically assisted fracture fixation. Our multi-disciplinary team comprises surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists sharing a common goal of facilitating a patient’s recovery from serious injury. Our Anaesthesiology team is experienced in trauma anaesthesia and pain control, and can help ensure a comfortable recovery from surgery.
In addition, we offer holistic care for elderly patients with osteoporotic (soft bone) fractures, including combined care with the geriatrician, anaesthetist and surgeon.
Our Trauma service also works closely with the specialist Radiology Centre, which is equipped with 3D imaging techniques for diagnostic clarity. It also works with the Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery service for the reconstruction of soft tissue defects after serious injury.
The Trauma service consists of general wards, intensive care and high dependency beds, operating theatres and the outpatient clinic area providing fracture care, hand clinics and rehabilitation facilities.

Shoulder & Elbow Surgery
This service provides diagnosis and treatment of arthritis and sports related injuries of the shoulder and elbow, including the following:
- Conservative and operative treatment of the shoulder and elbow including:
- Sports injuries and arthroscopy of the shoulder and elbow, including joint stabilisation and ligament reconstruction
- Degenerative shoulder and elbow disorders including Rotator cuff repair and shoulder and elbow arthroplasty
- Shoulder and elbow trauma
- Surgery for bone, joint and cartilage injuries including cartilage repair techniques
Spine Surgery
Neck and back pain can be debilitating conditions. We provide a holistic and patient-centric approach to treat spine conditions. We work together with our therapists in the rehabilitation of our patients. The majority of patients (surgical and non-surgical) will benefit from neck and back strengthening exercises. We also have an orthotics team that supplies customised braces and corsets for back or neck conditions.
We also work closely with our rehabilitation medicine colleagues and chronic pain unit for cases that require multi-disciplinary care.
We provide the following services:
- Assessment and treatment of neck/back pain and sciatica
- Evaluation by clinical radiologist and injection studies in collaboration with our radiology colleagues. Surgical decompression and reconstruction of the spine via anterior or posterior approaches or both
- Treatment for osteoporosis, spinal tumours and infections
- Assessment of fractures or spinal nerve compression from osteoporosis, tumours and infections of the spine
- Spinal reconstruction techniques utilizing spinal instrumentation, allografts or vertebral replacements
- Spinal rehabilitation in collaboration with our Rehabilitation Medicine service and the Spinal Rehabilitation Unit of Tan Tock Seng Hospital
- Operative treatment of spine deformity including:
- Assessment and treatment of scoliosis
- Surgical correction of adult degenerative scoliosis with instrumentation and fusion
Sports Medicine
Our multi-disciplinary team of sports-trained healthcare professionals caring holistically for all persons involved in exercise and sports. The team includes sports medicine doctors, sports orthopaedic surgeons, sports physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, sports podiatrists and sports dietitians.
Using a holistic approach with evidence-based best practices and treatments, the team promotes healthy, active exercising/sporting lifestyles while optimising recovery from injury/illness and return to exercise/sports in a safe, realistic and timely manner.
Our sports medicine doctors and sports orthopaedic surgeons are sports-trained professionals, who are skilled in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention strategies of exercise/sports-related injuries/illnesses, including injuries to joints, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, muscles and bones. Using the latest scientific evidence-based best practices and treatments, including ESWT and PRP therapy, we help our patients optimise recovery from injury in a supportive, understanding and healing environment.
